Self-defence is the most valuable and obvious aspect of Karate practice.

People train for a lot of different reasons, namely:

  • self confidence
  • self discipline
  • fitness
  • balance
  • co-ordination skills
  • team work
  • stretching
  • flexibility
  • muscle strength
  • endurance.

The overall aim of our clubs is to provide students with discipline and respect.
Also to raise the levels of self-confidence, to teach focus, control, balance and determination, and self-defence skills for defending themselves in the event of unprovoked attack.

Whilst competition/self defence is important to the club, a great deal of emphasis is placed on traditional Karate with particular attention paid to Kata and to the perfection of technique, so as to make our students all round strong Karate-ka.
