and Guests :-
We left at 8.45am on Sunday the 8th March, after a 3 hour plus drive we arrived at the Beautiful SKK Judo Dojo in Earlestown.
We were met by Sensei Steve Scott at the dojo with Luke & Zack .
After a nice cuppa we changed into our Karate Gis for the forth coming session.
After a chat with Sensei Steve and Introduction , Sensei Tony Gray warmed up the class of around 40 students. All the students worked really hard. We then moved onto competition training combinations using punching and kicking techniques. The training then moved to the class all pairing up and working these different combinations. After several changes of partners 1 hour and a half had already gone by so the class then had a short break.
Sensei Steve Scott was completing the E.K.F. Nationals entry form weighing in the Athletes and making sure they were all in the correct categories which took several hours.
On recommencement of training Sensei Tony Gray had the students pair up with their hand and foot pads on to start sparring. All the students sparred with about 10 + different partners which was exhausting work.
In conclusion of the 3 hour session Sensei Tony got all the students around the mats to play a Kumite tag game which he did under Sensei Ticky Donovan at the World Championships in South Africa many years earlier.
The training session ended with the NWKA \ K.D.F. Kata squad performing their Kata with bunkai. There were also further excellent displays of Individual and Team Kata (with bunkai) with everyone applauding their efforts..
The Kumite selections then started . All the SKDF \ NWKA members competing with the correct attitude and spirit. Several Internationals taking part making the day a complete success for the K.D.F. Karate-Do Federation. Sensei Steve & Tony congratulated and applauded the students for their efforts. All the students bowed out and group pictures were taken by parents and friends.
The SKDF group had been invited back to Sensei Steve’s house for food and refreshments. This was laid on by the birthday girl Anne Scott who had celebrated her birthday on Saturday. After some food and drink and good conversation it was time to leave for our return journey back to London.
The S.K.D.F. would like to thank Sensei Steve Scott his students and wife Anne for their hospitality and kindness throughout the day.
Also a big Thank you to Tom. Norman and Andy for driving us all there, a 400 mile round trip.
